Bike storage – If you only have a one car garage or live in a small, narrow apartment, the space is valuable. Clean the floor next to your bikes hanging from the ceiling in a corner of the room or in the garage. This is an especially good idea if you have high enough ceilings that you can still have other storage under the hanging bicycle.
Prop up the bike on the bike stand so it has easy access to the wheels. Measure the bike from wheel to wheel at the points where the tires touch the ground. This distance may vary depending on the type of bicycle. If you are hanging more than one bicycle, measure each one before continuing.

Look for a beam on the roof where you want to hang the bicycle. In a garage with an open roof, choose a wooden joist beam that run along your bike. If your ceiling is covered with drywall, use a study finder to locate the joists. Measure the length you pointed for your bike, which marks the beginning and end of the length with a pencil to indicate where to install the bike hooks. Install a bicycle hook at each point you marked. Use standard bicycle hooks as these are designed to fit around the rims and can support the weight of the bike.
